| If she didnt write so damn well, Michelle would be wielding a Les Paul Custom in some New York City or Los Angeles based band of tricked out babes. Or shed be running a convoy in Iraq where she served a tour of duty with the US Army Reserve in 2004. Either way you slice it the girls got guts.. And she knows great music when she hears it. | ||||||||||||||

| Growing up in a musically inclined family, Michelle was exposed to the sounds of eclectic pop, salsa and merengue from a young age and developed a sixth sense for great music. During high school and college she took journalism classes, organized concert events and started sneaking into NYC bars on and around Bleecker Street to take in live music.
At 22 she joined the US Army Reserve where she was exposed to people and musical tastes from all over the US, under some of the most intense, dramatically charged conditions. We all shared our music with each other as sometimes it was the only thing we took solace in and felt connected by. I'd always had a diverse music collection, but I learned about new stuff and left with every different genre in my iTunes. While in Iraq, a blog Michelle had been keeping to let family and friends know how she was doing overseas garnered a lot of unexpected attention. My blogs gained more interest, family and friends told their friends, people I didn't know would email to comment on my blog. Friends and family would nag for more when I wasn't writing. I started to think there might be something to this writing thing. Michelle, now residing in Los Angeles, fuses her love of music and penchant for writing to fill you in on the talent, sound and inspiration of the most compelling new acts in music at jeffprestonmusic.com. |
