One Cell In The Sea, is the debut release from Los Angeles based band A Fine Frenzy. Produced by Lukas Burton and Hal Cragin, who have worked with James Blunt and Rufus Wainwright respectively, it is a melodic, piano driven journey through the mind of imaginative lyricist and songwriter Alison Sudol.
Come On, Come Out is the perfect upbeat opener. From title to piano intro and lyrics, it is a convincing argument for “stopping the time, the rushing and waiting, leave it all behind,” and to “come on, come out.” It's an uplifting invitation to keep on listening.

Sudol keeps it upbeat with The Minnow and the Trout, which boasts the CD's title in the lyrics; “we were one cell in the sea in the beginning and what we're made of was all the same once …” With a fanciful story of animals helping each other out, sang with a cheerful voice set against a backdrop of uptempo piano pop, evolution never sounded so beautiful.

Songs like You Picked Me and Lifesize are lively numbers that showcase more aggressive piano playing and heavier percussion than the other tracks. During these songs, Sudol gets out of that heady voice and reaches a little further down to belt out about being joyfully in love. They're the kind of songs you crank up and sing loudly to when you find yourself falling for someone new.
And then, when that someone breaks your heart, you turn to Almost Lover and Near To You, heartbreakingly powerful songs of that lost love you just can't get over. They're sad and slow and stripped of fluff so you can hear Sudol's every vulnerable note and breath.
