But, if you're not able to perform different voices, accents and dialects, don't fret it. You still have a working voice. Why? because we all have a unique, employable voice. The worst thing you can do is go to a British voiceover audition when you know you can't successfully perform a British accent. Going to such an audition can hurt you in more ways than one, and I'm not just talking about your friendship with your fellow Brits! If the casting director is actually present at the audition he/she may change their perception of your talent and may limit your future audition opportunities. And, if the casting director happens to be from London then you're really screwed Gov'na!
The cliche is true: Know Yourself. The following advice is equally priceless for working voiceover artists: Know Your Voice. Focus on what you're good at and what you can do well and you'll record a better demo, get more auditions and get more work. Guaranteed.
